Saalfelden in short

Height: 744 metres
-
Less suitable for the avid downhill skier

Cross-country hotspot
-
Plenty of restaurants, shops and entertainment
Saalfelden is a medium-sized city. Because of its location in the wide valley this is primarily a cross-country skiing destination. Saalfelden itself has two kilometers of slopes outside the resort in a mini ski area, which is really only suitable for beginners. For snowboarders there is a competition half pipe, but the real issue here is cross-country skiing. There are 35 kilometers of easy trails. Then there is the tough, 15-kilometer cross-country skiing World Cup Ritzensee trail. You can also walk around Saalfeldenand through the hills near the hamlet Ramseiden and around the Ritzensee lake.
