Gstaad in short

  • Height: 948 - 3000 metres
  • Ideal for beginners
  • Great children's facilities
  • Huge ski area

Destination Gstaad is a true skiing paradise. With 200km of runs, the Gstaad ski area is a true winter sports paradise. All kinds of skiers and snowboarders, from families on their first ski holidays to the most daring extreme skiers, will find what they're looking for here. The ski slopes in and around Gstaad's village centre (in particular the Wispile and Eggli lifts) offer gentle tree-lined runs ideal for beginners and children. Advanced skiers looking for more challenging runs can venture further abroad the the linked ski areas of the nearby villages.

The Destination Gstaad ski pass covers the ski areas of Gstaad, Château-d'Oex, Rougemont, Saanen, Villars, Leysin and the Diablerets glacier. About half of the slopes are blue. This, along with the fantastic family facilities in Gstaad, makes this one of the most family-friendly ski areas in Switzerland. Snowboarders certainly get their fair share of the mountain in the Gstaad ski area, with 4 snow parks, a boarder cross and plenty of rails and jumps. Cross-country skiers and winter hikers will find endless trails to explore. The Destination Gstaad ski area is so versatile it suits every type of ski holidays. While Gstaad has a posh reputation due to its popularity with the jet-set, the pedestrianised village centre offers a laid-back, welcoming vibe. Gstaad is easy to reach from Geneva Airport, making it an easy possibility for ski holidays from the UK.

Destination Gstaad

The Rinderberg ski area has floodlit slopes for night skiing on certain days of the week, definitely a must-try if you've never skied at night before. Gstaad also offers a programme for first-time skiers which includes a personal ski instructor who will show you the ropes and help you gain confidence as you tackle your first turns on skis. Close to the village of Gstaad and the other linked villages of the Gstaad ski area you will find plenty of nursery slopes and children's areas. This, plus the wealth of blue slopes, makes Gstaad truly an excellent destination if you're travelling with the family or if you are a first-time skier.
